Students learn life lessons at “Real Life Academy”

(WEAU) - A bunch of kids got to act like adults Wednesday and deal with real life situations.

The Eau Claire Area Chamber of Commerce, Eau Claire Area School District, and Associated Bank helped put on the "Real Life Academy" at the Plaza Hotel and Suites. Students selected a career and then were given a family status and a paycheck.

Reality sets in when they start having to pay for bills and monthly expenses.

Adrian Sabani, a junior at Altoona High School says "dental insurance, health insurance, child support, all those things that you think about in high school growing up, that you'll have to pay for eventually.

Hundreds of students from Altoona, Fall Creek, Eau Claire Memorial, Eau Claire North and Eau Claire Regis High Schools participated in Wednesday's event.
