Students at UW-Eau Claire held a concert to raise awareness of a good cause.
The concert, called “Spread the Word to End the Word,” is aimed at reducing the use of the words retard and retarded in every day language, and to help promote the use of a new word, respect. The concert featured 8 acts from around the area and was organized by UW-Eau Claire best buddies.
Organizer Nicole Webber says "I hope to see a change in mentality in people on campus and in the community, and to see people embracing people with disabilities, they're no different than you or I, they have a unique gift to share with the world."
Organizers say the money raised by the concert will go towards UW-Eau Claire's best buddies.
