Subzero temps spur large Food Bank donation from Holiday Vacations

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU)-- Holiday Vacations says the unusually harsh winter moved them to action.

Today the Eau Claire-based Feed My People Food Bank announced the local travel agency has donated 1,000 dozen eggs, and 1,000 jars of peanut butter. They've also arranged for 1,000 bags of spinach to be delivered at a later date.

In a press release from Feed My People, Holiday Vacations owner Patrick Stoffers said the severe weather inspired the donation of food. The subzero temperatures lead to higher heating bills, which can put pressure on any family's budget. Feed My People says sometimes folks are forced to choose between heat and food. They're hoping this huge food donation will help.

Feed My People Food Bank supplies more than six million pounds of food each year to more than 100 hunger-relief organizations. They provide food to fourteen counties in Western Wisconsin.
