"Supermilage" event challenges local students

By  |

MENOMONIE, Wis. (WEAU) How far do you think a car can go on a single gallon of gas? Would you believe more than 400-miles?

The Annual Supermilage Challenge was held Friday and Saturday at the Dunn County Fairgrounds in Menomonie.

Six high schools with 12 teams and 12 cars are scheduled to compete.

Teams use techniques to get every mile out of the single tank as possible.

There were safety checks, car judging and an open house.

Saturday the real competition begins.

"We started from the beginning of the school year and made a lot of changes, we started from the back ad worked our way forward...We just got done yesterday actually," says Cadott Senior Dylan Vitensu.

Last year, the winning car from Medford High School, could have made it 466 miles on a single tank of gas!
