Suspect in shooting arrested

SIREN, Wis. (WEAU) – Investigators arrested a man in connection with a shooting that sent another man to the hospital.

Angus Semple, 56, of Spooner is in jail. Deputies say they’re not looking for any other suspects in the case. Criminal charges have not been filed in the case.

It happened Wednesday night. The Burnett County Sheriff’s Office says it responded to a report of someone having been shot at a home on County Road A in the Town of Scott, which is northeast of Siren. Deputies found a 60-year-old Spooner man with injuries that aren’t thought to be life-threatening in another home nearby. He was taken to an area hospital, then transferred to a hospital in Duluth, MN. A news release from the sheriff’s department did not identify the victim.
SIREN, Wis. (BURNETT COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT NEWS RELEASE) - On Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at 10:45 p.m., the Burnett County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a person that had been shot at a home in the 28000 block of County Road A in the Town of Scott.

Deputies located the victim, a 60 year old Spooner man, at another residence in the Town of Scott. The victim was taken to a local hospital by North Memorial Ambulance before being transferred to a hospital in Duluth, MN. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Angus R. Semple, 56 of Spooner, was taken into custody in connection with this incident and is being held in the Burnett County Jail. No other suspects are being sought at this time, and criminal charges are pending.

The Siren Police Department, Webster Police Department, and St. Croix Tribal Police assisted deputies in responding to this incident.
Investigation continues by the Burnett County Sheriff’s Office; and no further details will be released at this time.
