NEW INFORMATION: Names released in deadly Highway 93 crash

A red 1994 Pontiac Sunbird driven by Tyler J. Simenson (male) of Eleva, WI was traveling northbound on Hwy 93. Simenson lost control of his vehicle causing the vehicle to enter the southbound lane and was struck by a southbound vehicle. Simenson was taken to an area hospital for injuries received from the crash. Simenson was cited for too fast for conditions.

The southbound vehicle, a grey 2009 Toyota Corolla, was driven by Graham M. Barnes (male) of Eau Claire, WI. Passengers in the Toyota were Barnes’ three children Zayvier age 9(male), Eylsa age 7(female), and Qwynn age 2(male). All occupants of the Toyota were transported to an area hospital for injuries received from the crash. Zayvier later passed away at the hospital from injuries sustained from the crash.

The Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the crash and once the investigation is complete the reports will be sent to the District Attorney’s Office for review.

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) – The Eau Claire County Sheriff says it was a nine-year-old who died in a two-vehicle crash on State Highway 93 Tuesday morning.

Sheriff Ron Cramer has not released the child’s name. He says a father, the nine-year-old, and two other children were in the car at the time of the crash. One of the children was in critical condition as of Tuesday.

The sheriff says there was a combination of sleet, snow, and water on the road at the time of the crash. He also says that he suspects that the crash was a result of a traffic violation.

The sheriff expects that more information will be released on Thursday.

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) – One person has died in a crash involving two vehicles south of Eau Claire.

It happened around 7:15 a.m. Tuesday on State Highway 93, south of Spruce Road. The Eau Claire County Sheriff’s Department says one of the vehicles was headed north and the other was going south when the crash happened. Four people who were in the vehicle that was going south were taken to the hospital with injuries. One of them passed away at the hospital. That person’s name has not been released.

There was only one person in the vehicle that was headed north. He was also taken to the hospital with injuries. The sheriff’s department and the Wisconsin State Patrol are looking into what caused the crash.
