NEW INFORMATION: Driver killed in crash near Withee

NEILLSVILLE, Wis. (WEAU) -- A man died when the pickup truck he was driving collided with a semi Friday morning.

It happened on State Highway 29 at the intersection of County Road O, which is near Withee. The Clark County Sheriff's Office says Dennis Dumke, 56, of the Owen area was going north on County Road O, and didn't yield to a semi that was going west on highway 29. Daniel Landrum, 42, of Wausau was driving the semi. He swerved, but collided with the driver side of the pickup truck. Investigators say Dumke wasn't wearing a seatbelt, and was thrown from the truck. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A news release does not say whether Landrum ended up with injuries in the wreck. He was wearing a seat belt.

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- A crash on State Highway 29 has a stretch of all the westbound lanes closed.

The Wisconsin State Patrol says the crash happened at 8:30 a.m. Friday on highway 29 west at County Road O, which is near Withee. The suggested detour for drivers headed west is to take County Road O north to County Road X, then go west to State Highway 73, and south back to State Highway 29. The closure could last a total of two hours.

There is no immediate word on how many vehicles were involved in the crash, or whether anyone was hurt.
