NEW INFORMATION: Woman dies after being injured in a crash on HWY 29

22-year-old Jessica Oliver died saturday at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire from injuries she sustained in a car crash thursday.

Her family released a statement sharing their profound grief.

Her family says they found comfort in knowing Jessica had indicated her wishes to be an organ donor.

“She had a lot of respect for those who chose to be organ donors,” said Rita and Joseph Oliver, Jessica’s parents, of Colfax. “Even after death, she’s still giving.”


(WEAU) - The Chippewa County Sheriff's Department says both people hurt in a two car crash on Highway 29 have serious injuries. It happened about two miles northeast of Elk Mound.

The department says a car going westbound failed to yield and turned into the path of a car going east.

One person was taken by ambulance to the hospital, the other was airlifted.


UPDATE: All lanes are now open at the crash scene.


TOWN OF WHEATON, Wis. (WEAU) - One lane of State Highway 29 east remains closed as crews investigate a crash that left two people injured.

Our reporter at the scene says one of the victims was flown from the intersection of highway 29 and 20th Street.

Four people were involved in the crash that happened just before 11:30 a.m. Thursday. There's no word on the extent of the injuries.

Investigators were doing crash reconstruction at the scene at 1 p.m. Thursday.

CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. (WEAU) – Crews are at the scene of a traffic crash on State Highway 29.

The Department of Transportation says it happened just before 11:30 a.m. Thursday. Crews have all the eastbound lanes of highway 29 closed near 20th Street, which is northwest of Eau Claire.

There's no word on damage or potential injuries.

Crews estimate that the highway will be blocked off for more than two hours. We also have a crew on the way to the scene, and will bring you more information as it becomes available.
