NEW INFORMATION: Driver ticketed after traffic crash in Eau Claire

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- A driver was ticketed after a three-vehicle crash at a busy Eau Claire intersection Wednesday afternoon.

Eau Claire police say a vehicle that was headed north on South Hastings Way had a flashing yellow light when the driver was turning west onto Brackett Avenue. It collided with another vehicle with the right of way that was headed south on Hastings Way. The impact pushed the second vehicle into a third vehicle. An SUV and two minivans could be seen with damage at the scene.

Officers say at least one person claimed to have injuries from an airbag that went off at the time of the crash. Nobody was taken to the hospital. The driver of the vehicle that was going north on Hastings Way was ticketed for failing to yield while turning left. Police had turn lanes on Hastings Way closed for less than an hour.

It happened Wednesday afternoon at the corner of Brackett Avenue and Hastings Way in Eau Claire. An SUV and two minivans could be seen with damage after it happened. Squad cars blocked turn lanes on Hastings Way near the crash scene just before 5 p.m.

An Eau Claire police sergeant was aware of the crash, but had no further details. He said he would get back to us when more information was available.
