EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- Talk of a high speed rail in Eau Claire is back.
On Thursday, the city sent a letter to the secretary of the Wisconsin Department of Transportation to request it uses a $4.36 million federal government fund towards the study on the Milwaukee-Twin Cities high speed rail route.
The city hopes that completing the study would put that route back into contention.
The city claims the route that comes through Eau Claire is better for people in Wisconsin compared to the one that was chosen, which went through La Crosse and along the Mississippi River.
