EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- A former Wendy's restaurant in Eau Claire is being torn down.

Demolition began Thursday on the building on South Hastings Way. Mike Schatz, with the city of Eau Claire, says a company from Memphis bought the property several months ago and plans to build an Auto Zone there.

Three Wendy's restaurants in Eau Claire and Chippewa Falls closed in November 2012.

The restaurant on Clairemont Avenue reopened with a new look last month and the one in Chippewa Falls is being remodeled into a Japanese restaurant.
