"The Blind Spot" wins People's Choice Award

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) – A 2,500-pound sculpture of a daydreaming frog is winner of the second annual Sculpture Tour Eau Claire People’s Choice Award.

Sculpture Tour Eau Claire would also like to announce the following awards:

Best of Show:   "Jack's Story Time” Artist: Gregory Johnson, GA

Best of Show Bronze:  "Bad Hair Day" Artist: Jerry McKellar, WA

Best of Show Other Material:  "High and Dry" Artist: Kyle Fokken, MN

“The Blind Spot” was announced as the winner Wednesday. It’s at the corner of Lake Street and Barstow Street.

Dan Massopust of Eau Claire created “The Blind Spot.” He’s submitted work to Sculpture Tour Eau Claire during each of the last two years.

A news release from the Eau Claire Community Foundation, which sponsors the sculpture tour, says “The Blind Spot” will “be taking up permanent residence on a local lily pad early next spring.” Votes were turned in for the award during the summer. The current sculptures will be on display until May 2013.
