Thorp advances to boys basketball state title game

MADISON, Wis. (WEAU) -- It was a nail biter, but Thorp held on to defeat Cochrane-Fountain City 54-52 in the Division 5 state semifinal at the Kohl Center. They will Green Bay NEW Lutheran in the state title game on Saturday at 11:35 am.

The Cardinals were lead by Dakota Lindgren, who scored 17-points and Albi Maksuti, who finished with 13-points. The Pirates got 17-points from Jordan Eikamp and 12-points from Garrett Marklowitz.

The game came down to the final possession, with Thorp leading 54-52, the Pirates final three pointer bounced off the rim as Thorp captured the win. It was Cochrane-Fountain City's first trip to state, while Thorp is making their first trip since 1982.
