Thousands “Trot” for a good cause

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) - While many were up early finalizing Thanksgiving meals, thousands of others were taking to the pavement to burn off some calories ahead of time

It's estimated nearly 4,000 people were in downtown Eau Claire to raise money for a good cause in the sixth annual Festival Foods Turkey Trot.

The five mile run and two-mile walk raises money for the Boys and Girls Club and the YMCA.

“Last year both the boys and girls club locally got $18,000 each so whatever we get this year will be wonderful to help our community,” race director Karen Drechsel said.

Last year more than 33,000 people participated in Turkey Trot races all over the state.
