NEW INFORMATION: Power restored to thousands of customers in Hudson

At about 4 p.m. today 6,333 customers in the Hudson area were without power thanks to a few crows flying into a substation and causing failure of some equipment. Xcel Energy crews were able to repair the equipment and restore power by 4:48 p.m.

HUDSON, Wis. (WEAU)--Thousands of customers are without power in Hudson.

Xcel Energy says the outage was reported at 3:58 Tuesday afternoon. 6,333 customers are affected.

A spokesperson for Xcel says right now the cause of the outage is unknown, and crews are on the way to the area to fix the problem.
