Three injured in ambulance crash

CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. (WEAU) – An ambulance heading to an area hospital slid down a slippery hill and hit several trees, leaving three people injured.

It happened around 7 a.m. Tuesday. The Chippewa County Sheriff’s Department says that it is believed that none of the injuries are life-threatening.

Deputies say there was freezing rain as a Cornell Ambulance responded to a person having chest pain on Baribeau Road in Cornell. Crews loaded the patient into the ambulance, and started heading to St. Joseph’s Hospital. When the ambulance got near the intersection of Baribeau and Johnson Road in Cornell, it sled down a hill, went off the road, and hit the trees. The driver, an EMT, and the patient were all hurt.
