Three people hurt in Monroe Co. crash

PORTLAND, Wis. (NEWS RELEASE FROM MONROE CO. SHERIFF'S DEPT.) -- Monroe County Sheriff Peter Quirin reports a 2 vehicle crash that resulted in injuries to three parties.

The crash occurred at about 12:19pm on July 27th 2014 on Highway 27 at Highway 33 in the Town of Portland.

A 2011 Ford pickup driven by 59 year old Joseph E. Richey of rural Prophetstown Il., was north bound on Hwy 27 when a 2002 Ford Explorer Driven by Dalton L. Dempsey age 20 of Steuben Wis. who was south bound on Hwy 27 made a left turn in front of the Richey Vehicle and the two collided.

Richey was transported to Sparta Mayo Hospital by Sparta Ambulance with non -life threatening injuries. Dempsey and his passenger 18 year old Peder S. Andersen of Viroqua, were transported by Tri-state Ambulance to Gundersen hospital in LaCrosse with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Andersen had to be extricated from the car with the Jaws of Life by the Cashton Fire department.

Assisting the Sheriff’s Department at the scene were the Cashton Fire Department, Cashton First Responders, Tri-state ambulance, Sparta Area Ambulance, Monroe County 911 center, Monroe County Hwy Department and the Wis. DOT.

The crash remains under investigation by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department.
