EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- Three local teens are accused of going on a crime spree across two counties.

The boys were arrested earlier this week.

Deputies say Logan Everson of Eau Claire, Jordan Mooney of Chippewa Falls, and Jonathan Eagleman of Eau Claire, all 17-years-old, are responsible breaking in and stealing items from businesses in Eau Claire and Chippewa Counties.

Investigators say the teens worked together to steal high-priced items and sell them to get money for drugs.

This big break in so many burglary cases may not have happened without the help of a business owner, several law enforcement agencies and Shih Tzu.

Douglas Twerberg is the owner of RC Hobbies in Chippewa Falls.

On Monday he got a customer that his dog, a 9-month-old Shih Tzu named Revo, didn't seem to like.

“He actually went right up to him and was barking and growling at him. Usually he's pretty gentle and pretty quiet so I think he was telling me to watch the kid,” Twerberg said.

The store owner said the customer brought in a hobby car to see if it could be repaired.

Twerberg said he soon recognized it as a car that had been reported stolen from a different store.

He quickly called Chippewa Falls Police, who came and arrested 17-year-old Jordan Mooney.

Detectives said that arrest uncovered a crime ring that led to the arrests of two other suspects.

Over the past three weeks, investigators said the friends worked together to burglarize or attempt to break into 22 businesses in Eau Claire and Chippewa counties.

“They took everything from television sets, to alcohol, to computers. In Chippewa Falls it was money, motorcycles, snow mobile-type helmets,” said Detective Scott Kuehn of the Eau Claire County Sheriff’s Department.

Detective Kuehn said the boys sold the items to buy and sell marijuana and meth.

He said the arrests were a collaboration between the Eau Claire County Sheriff’s Department, the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Department, and city police from Eau Claire and Chippewa Falls.

“It’s not just one law enforcement agency that resulted in these arrests; it’s a multi-cooperative level between all agencies. From patrol guys and gals out on the streets, to investigators to the citizens that actually lots of times give us tips. And without the tips a lot of this stuff wouldn’t be solved,” Dectective Kuehn said.

Both Everson and Mooney have been charged with nine counts of burglary and have been released on bond.

Eagleman has been charged with one count of burglary.
