The city held a ceremony to open South Barstow Street to traffic on August 9. It was the first revitalization of the downtown street in more than 40 years.
EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- Downtown Eau Claire Inc. is holding a dedication ceremony as it buries a time capsule on South Barstow Street.
The event is at 2 p.m. Saturday on the corner of South Barstow Street and East Grand Avenue. The organization will bury a watertight, aluminum cylinder that's about 16 inches tall and 4 inches in diameter in the boulevard. It will go in plastic tubing that's already under the brick pavers. A nameplate on the brick will show when the recent construction of South Barstow Street was finished. Downtown Eau Claire Inc. will put historic and recent photos in the time capsule, along with newspapers, a postcard, and a magnet.
Several city leaders will speak at the ceremony.
