Two children taken to hospital after getting hit by a truck

(WEAU) - Two children were taken to the hospital after they were hit by a pick-up truck in Sparta Friday afternoon.

The Sparta Police Department says around 2 p.m., the two children rode their bikes out in front of the truck on Water Street and Jefferson Avenue. Both were taken to the hospital. One child was treated and released, the other was then airlifted to a hospital in La Crosse with potentially life-threatening injuries.

Their names have not been released

Police say Water Street was shut down for about two hours after the crash.

Officers say the driver of the truck has not been cited.
