FRIENDSHIP, Wis. (WEAU) -- Two people are dead in a fire at a home in Adams County.
It happened around 1:30 a.m. Monday on Evergreen Court, which is east of Mauston. The Adams County Sheriff's Office says deputies got there and found the home fully engulfed. One person was outside. That person was taken to the hospital with injuries. Two other people could not get out, and were pronounced dead at the scene.
A news release from the Adams County Sheriff's Office does not say what caused the fire. It says the State Fire Marshal's Office is among the agencies investigating the fire. The names of the victims have not been released.
FRIENDSHIP, Wis. (ADAMS COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE NEWS RELEASE) --At 1:39am on October 28, 2013, the Adams County Sheriff's Office Dispatch Center received a 911 call of a structure fire on Evergreen Ct in the Town of Easton.
Upon arrival deputies found a resident outside the home and the home fully engulfed. The resident had sustained injuries from the fire. Curtis Ambulance transported the resident to Moundview Memorial Hospital. The resident was later transported to another facility. Investigation revealed that two residents of the property were not able to escape the fire and were pronounced dead at the scene by the Adams County Medical Examiner's office.
Names are not being released pending notification of family.
The Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by Curtis Ambulance, Adams County Fire District, Quincy Fire Department, Adams County Medical Examiner's Office and State Fire Marshal's Office.
The incident remains under investigation by the Adams County Fire District, Adams County Sheriff's Office, Adams County Medical Examiner's Office and State Fire Marshal's Office.
