Two men suspected of meth possession in La Crosse

LA CROSSE, Wis. (LA CROSSE POLICE DEPARTMENT NEWS RELEASE) - On 08-06-13 the La Crosse Police responded to 518 Car St. in an attempt to locate an individual with a warrant, once inside the residence officers discovered evidence of methamphetamine production. The residence was evacuated for safety while specially trained officers of the La Crosse Police Department and the State Department of Criminal Investigations organized entry into the residence. Investigators obtained a search warrant for the residence and did eventually perform the safe removal of the chemicals used for producing the drug. The La Crosse Fire Department was on scene while these chemicals were rendered safe.

The following individuals were taken into custody as part of this investigation

-Brandon G. Grosskopf 02-13-86 of La Crosse. Charges: Probation Warrant, Manufacture Methamphetamine, Possess Methamphetamine materials

-Austin J. Bennett 4-21-88 of Waukon, IA. Charges: Manufacture Methamphetamine, Possess Methamphetamine materials, Obstructing an Officer and Probation Warrant.

It should be noted that both Bennett and Grosskopf have previous methamphetamine convictions and drug delivery charges in their histories as well as Grosskopf having weapon charges and Bennett having violent convictions.
