Two people hurt in motorcycle crashes in Vernon Co.

TOWN OF JEFFERSON, Wis. (PRESS RELEASE) -- PRESS RELEASE FROM VERNON CO. SHERIFF'S DEPT.:

Vernon County Sheriff John B. Spears reports that a motorcycle crash occurred Saturday, June 14, 2014 at 1:45 PM, in the Town of Jefferson west of Viroqua.

John R. Simacek, age 83, of Apple Valley, MN was westbound on State Highway 56 when he lost control of his motorcycle. Simacek went into the ditch and was ejected off his motorcycle. Another motorcycle driven by Scott D. Johnson, age 45 of Onalaska was following Simacek slowing down and was unable stop. Johnson struck another motorcycle and went into went into the ditch. Johnson was ejected from his motorcycle.

Both Simacek and Johnson sustained injuries and were transported to Vernon Memorial Hospital for treatment by Tri-State Ambulance. Simacek was wearing a helmet and Johnson was not.

Assisting the sheriff’s office at the scene was Viroqua Police Department, Viroqua Fire Department and Tri-State Ambulance.

The accident remains under investigation by the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office.
