Town of Coon, Wi. -- The Vernon County Sheriff's Office says two people suffered minor injuries in a two-vehicle collision in the Town of Coon.

The crash happened Wednesday morning on U.S. Highway 14, between Westby and Coon Valley.

Karisa M. Timmerman, age 23, of La Crosse was operating a car eastbound, near Vang Road, and lost control on snow and slush.

Timmerman’s vehicle crossed the center of the highway and struck a westbound pickup truck driven by Randall J. Brueggeman, age 48, of rural Cashton.

The Timmerman vehicle spun around and came to rest in the eastbound lane and caught fire, but was quickly extinguished.

The Brueggeman vehicle travelled off the right side of the westbound lane and came to rest in a snowbank.

Both vehicles sustained severe damage and the airbags were deployed in both vehicles. Both operators were wearing seat belts. Timmerman and Brueggeman sustained minor injuries and may seek medical treatment on their own.

Assisting the Sheriff’s Office were the Coon Valley Fire Department and the Westby Police Department.

The accident remains under investigation by the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office.
