Vernon County Sheriff John B. Spears reports a two-vehicle crash occurred Sunday afternoon, June 15, 2014, at approximately 4:15 PM, in the village of Readstown.

Brittney Lu Ronnfeldt, age 24, of Sunset Lane, Boscobel, WI was operating a car southbound on State Highway 131, approaching the intersection of US Highway 14. Ronnfeldt said she looked behind her because she thought her daughter, age 19 months, may have been choking. The front of the Ronnfeldt vehicle struck the rear of a vehicle driven by Kristopher A. King, age 36, of N. Michigan Street, Prairie Du Chien, WI. King was making a right turn onto US Highway 14, from State Highway 131.

The child in the Ronnfeldt vehicle was transported by Readstown Ambulance to Vernon Memorial Healthcare, in Viroqua, for observation and then released. The child was restrained in a child safety seat. All others were wearing seat belts and no other injuries were reported.

Assisting the Sheriff’s Office at the scene were the Readstown Fire Department and Readstown Ambulance.

The accident remains under investigation by the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office.
