Two area Red Cross volunteers heading to Duluth

(WEAU) - The Red Cross has set up several shelters for people in Duluth who have been forced to evacuate and two people from the area are going to help.

John Peterson from Siren and Jack Corey from Eau Claire will be deploying to Duluth to help. They will also be bringing an emergency response truck from Altoona.

Corey says his experience with people in Duluth is that they are very resilient. "It’s quite a thing that they're undertaking right now. It's quite a punch that they took over the last couple of days but they're capable of dealing with it and we're certainly more than willing to help with whatever they need."

Corey says he will likely be handing out meals and supplies to people who need it.
