Two men seriously injured after crashing two vehicles in less than two hours

(WEAU) – Deputies say two young men were seriously injured when their truck rolled early Thursday morning, less than two hours after they crashed a van.

The Buffalo County Chief Deputy says deputies were called to Bauer Road in the town of Mondovi around 5:20 a.m. They say they found a 17-year-old male trapped inside a 1986 Chevy truck that was lying on its top.

He says the passenger, a 20-year-old male, was lying in a nearby front yard.

He says they hit a utility pole in the crash, and multiple power line cables were left hanging over the truck.

After removing the 17-year-old from the truck, he was flown to Mayo Clinic Health System Hospital in Eau Claire. The passenger was taken by ambulance to Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire. The chief deputy says both had serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

He says deputies found that the pair had crashed a van, also on Bauer Road, around 4 a.m., got a ride back home and then rolled the truck.

He says criminal charges are pending, and it’s believed that alcohol was a factor.

Their names are not being released at this time.
