CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. (WEAU) - Today is UPS’s highest global pickup day.
Workers are expected to pick up 34-million packages across the world, that’s double their normal volume.
The majority of those packages will be delivered Tuesday.
If you want your package to get there in tip-top shape, they recommend not using an old box or gift box.
UPS also says you shouldn’t use newspaper or "real" popcorn to cushion the package.
They also say you should include the delivery address "inside" the box as well as on the outside.
James Kenner, the owner of the Chippewa falls UPS location says if you want to get your packages delivered for Christmas, now is the time.
"The earlier the better is about all we can say. Get it going, get it moving,” Kenner said.
Kenner says Monday is so busy because UPS ground charges are the cheapest, and they need 5 days for delivery that way. Just in time for Christmas.
Today is also projected to be the busiest mailing day of the year for the US Postal Service as well.
Postal workers are shoveling through an avalanche of greeting cards, letters and packages this Christmas season.
They are expected to process more than 600 million pieces of mail Monday alone.
