UW-L to offer CarShare program

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WEAU) -- Students without their own vehicles will have a new way to get around at an area university.

UW-L is working with Enterprise Rent-A-Car to provide a car share program.

There will be two vehicles on campus that are available for students, faculty and staff to use.

The annual membership fee is $10 if you sign up by August 1, plus you’ll earn $35 worth of driving credits.

The annual membership fee is $35 dollars if you sign up after August 1.

However, you’ll still earn $35 in driving credits.

In addition to the membership fee, the rental rates which include gas, will be $7.50 an hour, $62 for 24 hours and $35 for overnight hours, which are 6 p.m. to 8 a.m.

“Just another benefit to our students, and it gives them an opportunity to pursue an alternative form of transportation,” said Dan Sweetman, UW-L environmental health, safety & sustainability program manager.

You must be at least 18 participate.

The plan is to have the vehicles on campus the last week of August.
