La Crosse, Wis. (WEAU) - A second UW-La Crosse student has been killed two weeks into the semester.
Jing Gu, 23, was crossing the street near the La Crosse and Oakland Street intersection when she was hit by an oncoming car Friday night. She later died from her injuries in the hospital on Saturday.
Gu was a student from China and University Chancellor Joe Gow says they're currently working on getting the family to the campus by this weekend. "From what I heard about her she was a remarkable young woman. She was very motivated in her studies and took advantage of what this university had to offer. We are going to miss her,” Gow told us.
This was Gu's third year at UW-La Crosse.
Sean Schoonmaker, 20, was the other student who died this semester. He was killed in a car crash off campus August 31st.
