MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- New figures from the University of Wisconsin System show the system finished the first three quarters of fiscal year 2013-14 with more than $1.7 billion on hand.
The system released data Thursday that shows campuses had a combined $1.73 billion on hand at the end of March. System officials expect to finish the fiscal year on June 30 with $1.1 billion on hand.
System officials have taken intense criticism over the last year for ending fiscal year 2012 with a $1 billion surplus while raising tuition year after year.
The Board of Regents are poised to adopt a new policy setting limits on cash on hand on Friday.
