UW-Eau Claire Press Release
EAU CLAIRE — To provide University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire students with the voting documentation required by a new state voter ID law, the university now has available voter-identification-compliant student ID cards and a proof-of-enrollment/residency form.
Beginning with Wisconsin's primary election this month, the new voter ID law passed in 2011 requires voters to present a photo ID to receive a ballot at the polls. While the Blugold cards issued to all UW-Eau Claire students upon enrollment do not comply with the requirements of the new law, a new UW-Eau Claire student voter photo ID is now available that is compliant with the law.
Students also can use the following forms of ID at the polls: a Wisconsin driver's license or ID card issued by the state Department of Transportation, a military ID card issued by a U.S. uniformed service, or a U.S. passport. Students without one of these forms of ID may obtain the university voter photo ID for $2 from UW-Eau Claire's Blugold Card Office in Room 156 of Davies Center.
In addition to presenting a photo ID that meets the requirements of the new law, students registering to vote must also present proof of residency at the polls. Students may download a proof-of-enrollment form (which also provides proof of residency) from MyBlugold CampS, UW-Eau Claire's intranet. Instructions for obtaining the online form can be found on the UW-Eau Claire Records and Registration website under the heading "Enrollment Verification-Student Request."
