The United States junior hockey team captured the gold medal at the 2013 World Junior Championships in Ufa, Russia on Saturday, beating Sweden 3-1. For the U.S., it's their 3rd gold at the WJC (2004, 2010). Eau Claire native and current Wisconsin Badgers defenseman Jake McCabe captained TEAM USA, McCabe scored two goals in the United States victory over Canada in the semifinals on Thursday. It's the second time that an Eau Claire native (Jake Dowell, 2004) has played for a USA junior hockey team that brought home the gold.
