VP Biden stops in Oshkosh

OSHKOSH, Wis. (AP) -- Vice President Joe Biden says GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney "meant what he said" in a caught-on-tape comment that 47 percent of the nation consider themselves victims.

Biden told a crowd of about 1,000 at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh on Friday that he doesn't recognize the country Romney was talking about on the video. America is not in decline, Biden added: "Romney and Ryan are in denial."

President Barack Obama won Wisconsin handily in 2008, but Republicans insist that, helped by native son Paul Ryan on the GOP ticket, they are within striking distance this year. Biden's visit to Wisconsin was his fifth this year. After the Oshkosh event he was set to fly to Kenosha for an event there.

Obama, Romney and Ryan will campaign in Wisconsin next week.
