CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. (WEAU) - An area veteran’s home celebrated one year of service in Chippewa Falls Tuesday afternoon.

One year ago, the Wisconsin Veterans Home at Chippewa Falls opened its doors to its first members.

Tuesday the home celebrated the milestone with a ceremony for residents.

The secretary of the Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs says it’s great to see all of the hard work put into the home pay off.

”It really shows that partnering with the community we can really put together a great facility to honor those veterans,” Department of Veteran’s Affairs Secretary John Scocos said.

The Wisconsin Veterans Home at Chippewa Falls says within five months of opening it reached capacity and now has a waiting list due to the high demand.
