(WEAU) - Thursday, a troubled veteran took his first step towards a new life.
Alexander Rud is the first graduate of the Chippewa Valley Veterans Treatment Court. The Veterans Court helps men and women who have had trouble with the law when they return home and supports them as they work to return to a normal life.
Rud says the court is a huge boost for veterans in need of help. He told us Thursday "I think it means a lot to all veterans, not just me in particular, it's nice to see that the community gives back seeing how we give so much to the community, and giving us a second chance to do things right is a very good thing."
The Veterans Treatment Court has been running for one year.
