Vinehout ran for governor in 2012, but finished third in a primary election.
EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) - A local senate Democrat could be getting ready for her second run for governor.
State Sen. Kathleen Vinehout of Alma says she's hired a campaign organizer. She has not declared that she is a candidate. Right now, Mary Burke of Waterloo is the only Democrat to officially declare her candidacy for Wisconsin governor. Former Democratic Rep. Dave Obey says that if another Democrat gets into the race, that a primary election would hurt the eventual winner in the general election. Last weekend, Obey campaigned with Burke in northwestern Wisconsin.
Vinehout says she's mostly amused by efforts to keep her from running for governor. She would have to give up her state Senate seat to run. Vinehout has said that she plans on making a decision by early next year.
