Visit Eau Claire gives out more than $40,000 to promote tourism

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) - Visit Eau Claire gave out more than $40,000 in grants to promote tourism in the city.

The grants were awarded to the organizers of 15 events that contribute more than $1 million to the local economy. The events include the U.S. Open Chainsaw Sculpture Championship, the Gus Macker 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament, and the Eau Claire Big Rig Truck Show.

Executive Director of Visit Eau Claire Linda John says “the economic impact of these events is the main driver of this program and in addition to that, it helps support these events that are great for people who live here to participate in and enjoy."

The grants are funded by the City of Eau Claire and the Wisconsin Arts Board.
