ONALASKA, Wis. (WEAU) -- Volunteers are wrapping Christmas presents for a cause Monday at JCPenney Court at Valley View Mall in Onalaska.
“Volunteering just makes a person happy. It's a nice thing to do for the community and a way to give back,” said Sara Frank.
“I think it's good for me, but it's really beneficial for my kids to come out here and see that they can make a difference. It does feel good, especially this time of year when so many people go without,” said Michael Schwarz.
The proceeds from wrapping will benefit WAFER Food Pantry in La Crosse.
It's the largest food pantry serving the La Crosse area.
You can wait while your gifts are wrapped or drop them off and come back. You can also choose your wrapping paper, gift tags and bows.
Since WAFER is a nonprofit organization, executive director Erin Waldhart said fundraisers are critical.
“One it raises us some really important funds so that we can purchase the needed food items and it also creates awareness within our community, especially to a population that maybe hasn't had access to our organization before,” said Waldhart.
Volunteers will be wrapping presents until 10 p.m. Monday.
