WABENO, Wis. (AP) -- A treasured landmark has been returned to a small town in northern Wisconsin with a rich history in the logging industry.

The giant fiberglass statue of Larry the Logroller has been keeping watch over the logging museum in the Forest County community of Wabeno for many years. But, in January the local treasure sustained extensive damage by a falling tree.

Larry, in pieces, was shipped to an auto body shop more than 100 miles away. Ron Piontek says he spent countless hours putting Larry back together at his auto shop in Denmark.

Four months later, Larry was ready to head back to Wabeno. The 21-foot-tall lumberjack was strapped to a trailer for the ride home and even got a police escort when he returned Thursday. Locals say Larry has never looked better.
