Walker, Burke, Hulsey to report fundraising totals

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Candidates for governor were to report how much money they raised through the first half of the year.

Both Republican Gov. Scott Walker and Democratic challenger Mary Burke earlier this month released their preliminary totals. Democratic candidate state Rep. Brett Hulsey has not reported anything.

Walker reported raising nearly $8.3 million by July, compared with $3.6 million for Burke. Walker had $7.6 million cash on hand while Burke had $2.5 million.

Walker is seeking a second term in office while it is Burke's first campaign for a statewide office. Burke is a former Trek Bicycle Corp. executive and state Commerce secretary. She is currently a member of the Madison school board.
