MAPLE BLUFF, Wis. (AP) -- Gov. Scott Walker says he hopes an ongoing secret investigation that reportedly is looking into activities by his campaign and conservative groups ends soon.

Walker declined to comment about the investigation during an interview Tuesday with The Associated Press. But he did say he hopes it ends soon because otherwise "it's like trying to have a discussion with both hands tied behind your back."

The Wall Street Journal reported in November that Walker's campaign and more than two dozen conservative groups have been subpoenaed by a special prosecutor seeking records and fundraising information related to a series of recall attempts in 2011 and 2012 that targeted Walker and Republican state senators.

Walker declined to say Tuesday whether he has re-opened a criminal defense fund or met with investigators.
