MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Gov. Scott Walker raised nearly $474,000 in the six months after he won his recall election in 2012.

Walker reported Thursday that he raised that much between July 1 and the end of the year. While significant, it pales in comparison to the $29.5 million he raised in the first half of the year as the June recall election loomed.

Walker entered this year with nearly $794,000 cash on hand.

Even though the recall is behind him, Walker faces his regularly scheduled re-election campaign in less than two years. He will enter that race with a significant cash advantage over whichever Democratic candidate emerges.

Walker made his summary page available late Thursday. His full report showing individual contributions was not immediately available on the state elections board website.

Statement from Friends of Scott Walker Press Secretary Nicole Tieman regarding January’s campaign finance report:

“We have seen an outpouring of grassroots support for the Governor and his reforms, which have eliminated a $3.6 billion budget deficit without raising taxes and created a healthy surplus for Wisconsin’s rainy day fund. Of all contributions made, 78% of total funds raised were donations of $50 or less- a testament to the broad base of support for Governor Walker and his common sense initiatives to keep Wisconsin moving forward.”
