Walker says latest national jobs report good news

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Gov. Scott Walker says the latest national jobs figures are good news, but he's not willing to credit President Barack Obama's policies for the improvement.

Walker said Friday that the lowering of the national unemployment rate to 7.8 percent was "absolutely" good news and he hopes it continues.

Obama has been celebrating the figures, saying they show the economy is headed in the right direction. His rival Mitt Romney is downplaying the positive jobs report, saying Obama still hasn't done enough to help millions of people out of work.

Walker says the new numbers are a reflection of people trying to move forward, regardless of the government. Walker says he wants to see sustained growth.
