MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Gov. Scott Walker has signed an executive order recreating the Governor's Council on Physical Fitness and Health.

Walker announced that he was creating the council Wednesday to make recommendations for programs and policies to improve fitness, health and nutrition.

Walker is charging the council with developing policy and program recommendations to improve children's health, fitness, and nutritional intake. The council will also engage with community leaders and others to work on preventing obesity in Wisconsin residents.

Members of the council include Walker's policy director, a family doctor, a nutrition manager, and a registered dietitian.

The first such health and fitness council was created by then-Gov. Tony Earl in 1983.
