LA CROSSE, Wis (WEAU)- Governor Scott Walker was talking about jobs as he took a tour of the latest in medical technology.

Gundersen Lutheran in La Crosse recently opened their new Integrated Center for Education. The ICE hous has the latest in medical instruments and devices to help doctors in training.

The simulation labs get as close to the real thing as possible without the risk of harming a real patient.

Walker tried his hand at laparoscopic surgery and found that it takes a lot of practice to be perfect.

Walker spoke afterwards commemorating Gundersen Lutheran for adding jobs to the area.

“Not only do you have one of the biggest employers in the region more than 63 hundred jobs, you have new construction with 200 plus working on site" said Walker.

The labs can take up to 20 learners at a time, and doctors can practice anything from general techniques to advanced surgeries.

Multiple camera’s in the labs also make it easy for doctors to critique themselves afterwards with no harm done to a real patient.
