Warming shelter extends hours

LA CROSSE, Wis. Area warming shelters are expanding their hours because of the frigid temperatures.

The emergency warming center at Westley United Methodist Church in La Crosse says it'll be extending its hours of operation through Thursday.

The shelter was set up as an extra place for people to stay as other area shelters were filling up.

Shelter organizers say they're grateful for the support they've received, but say more canned and home made, hot food is needed.

They are also looking for volunteers, especially with late evening and overnight hours.

If you'd like to help, call Brenda Hanson at 608.792.1503 or Rev. Ellen Rasmussen, Pastor, Wesley UMC at 608.451.2000.

The shelter is located at 721 King Street, La Crosse.
