EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) -- It's an age old question men have been asking for hundreds of years. "What do women want?" But it seems to take a new meaning every holiday season as men scramble to buy their special woman the perfect Christmas gift. But experts tell us there are fail-proof gift ideas out there.
Isabelle & Co. owner Jessica Fredrickson says she the holidays are the busiest time of the season when husbands and wives and boyfriends and girlfriends shop at her store in Eau Claire.
“Women are always asking for a pair of jeans and it’s that splurge that people don’t always want to spend on themselves but it’s something they'll get a lot of use out of,” says Fredrickson.
She says accessories to go with the jeans are also popular during the holidays.
“We noticed a lot of women more interested in the monogrammed jewelry. It’s one size fits all and it’s monogrammed and personalized,” says Fredrickson. “Scarves are an easy one size fits all women aren't too picky about size, color and shape.”
Or someone women want the freedom to pick what they want themselves.
“Of course women who are buying things for themselves are coming in and buying holiday dresses or sparkly tops,” says Fredrickson.
If you’re still struggling to find a Christmas gift for that special someone, experts say some “bling” is also fail-proof.
“Jewelry is a great gift every year,” says Nicole Lasker, vice president of Lasker Jewelers. “Really great basic Christmas gift are diamond stud earrings. They're available in all sizes so whatever the price range, start from there.”
Another popular item this season at Lasker is necklaces.
“This year we're seeing a lot of small pendants, little diamond accent pendants, crosses, lockets,” says Lasker.
She says the holidays is also the busiest time of the year for engagements so engagement rings often double as a Christmas gift as well.
And an unconventional gift that women also want, we’re told, is home makeovers.
“Whether it’ Christmas or Thanksgiving at your house, you want to put your best foot forward and make your house look really great,” says Marla Miller, owner of Ella & Eve, a local store that specializes in home décor and furniture.
“People are really addicted to Pinterest and spend hours and hours on it. You see a cheap way to give your furniture a new look,” says Miller.
But the most important thing to remember, experts say, is that our gift is given from the heart.
