LA CROSSE, Wis. (AP) -- A blast of Arctic air has arrived, and the National Weather Service has issued wind-chill advisories in central Wisconsin up to the northeast corner of the state.
Meteorologists say wind chills would be between minus 20 and minus 30 degrees Saturday. Temperatures were expected to ease slightly by noon.
The counties covered by the advisories are Clark, Florence, Forest, Langlade, Lincoln, Marathon, Oneida, Portage, Taylor, Vilas and Wood counties.
The weather service has also issued a hazardous-weather outlook for southwest and central Wisconsin. It predicts 4 to 5 inches of fluffy snow accumulating Sunday into the night. That will be followed by wind chills of minus 10 to minus 25 degrees Monday through Wednesday.
