Wis. Elections board to pick new leader

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- The board that oversees elections in Wisconsin will pick a new chairman at its meeting Monday.

The Government Accountability Board is comprised of six retired judges who each serve staggered six-year terms. The current chairman is David Deininger. He picked his own name at random out of a glass bowl last year to serve as chairman.

This year the honors will be done by the board's director Kevin Kennedy.

The board works with local election clerks on administering elections and has been in the spotlight for its role in verifying signatures on recall petitions the past two years targeting state lawmakers and Gov. Scott Walker.
